Kanmi Osobu attended the University of Ilorin from where he graduated with second class upper division in Business Administration in 1987.  He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA).

Kanmi started his working career with the firm of ID Gbotosho & Co. (Chartered Accountants) in 1989 after National Youth Service.  He joined Lead Bank Plc in 1993 as a Banking Officer.  While in Lead Bank, he worked in various departments including Audit, International Operations, Corporate Banking and Treasury.  He resigned from Lead Bank Plc in August 2002 as the Treasurer of the Bank to join Bond Bank Limited.

At Bond Bank, Kanmi was the pioneer Regional Manager for Abuja.  He later transferred to Head Office to head the Bank’s Products and Markets Division.  He resigned from Bond Bank as a Deputy General Manager in January 2006.
